Gianfranco Boccalon was talking about an innovative approach to the governance of middleware services and to the development of SOA (service-oriented architecture) applications through Universal Middleware, which is highly modular and configurable. In computing, a service-oriented architecture (SOA) is a flexible set of design principles used during the phases of systems development and integration. A deployed SOA-based architecture will provide a loosely-integrated suite of services that can be used within multiple business domains. SOA also generally provides a way for consumers of services, such as web-based applications, to be aware of available SOA-based services.

Dave Neary is a contributor of GNOME, GNU Network Object Model Environment ,a free/libre open source project especially popular on Linux. Dave tell us about GNOME, this community and their projects.

GNOME is a desktop environment—a graphical user interface which runs on top of a computer operating system —composed entirely of free and open source software. It is an international project that includes creating software development frameworks, selecting application software for the desktop, and working on the programs which manage application launching, file handling, and window and task management.
