By Devil505, on 18/02/2010 at 13:05.

Before the freeze of Frugalware current for 1.2RC2, I pushed my last new packages. These package are Gnome themes from the bisigi-project.

These themes are mainly designed for Ubuntu, but for some of them, I replaced the Ubuntu logo icon by the Frugalware one, I know it’s tricky :-p

Here the list of the packages:

gnome-theme-airlines
gnome-theme-aquadreams
gnome-theme-bamboo-zen
gnome-theme-ellannar
gnome-theme-exotic
gnome-theme-infinity
gnome-theme-orange
gnome-theme-showtime
gnome-theme-step-into-freedom
gnome-theme-tropical
gnome-theme-ubuntu-sunrise
gnome-theme-wild-shine

I hope Frugalware Gnome users will enjoy these themes :-)

By Devil505, on 16/02/2010 at 15:00.

The elementary project is a set of GTK/Metacity theme and icons theme, mostly designed fot Gnome. I packaged it for Frugalware current the last weekend.

To install all stuff needed, just type

# pacman-g2 -S gtk+2-theme-elementary

This will install elementary-icon-theme and xcursor-theme-vanilla-dmz.

Then in gnome-appearance-properties, select Elementary theme, check if you have selected elementary-monochrome icons theme:

About the mouse cursor theme, I suggest you DMZ (white):

About the fonts, I keeped ttf Droid.

Finally you’ll get something like that:

Elementary no ? :-)

Frugalware and The Big Bang Theory

By Devil505, on 15/02/2010 at 17:15.

Don’t worry I’ll not talk about the scientific theory but the TV sitcom named « The Big Bang Theory ».

Remember I packaged fortune cookies of TV series « How I Met Your Mother », this time I do the same for « The Big Bang Theory ». If you don’t know this sitcom, quickly, here is the story:

Set in Pasadena, California, the show is about two male Caltech prodigies in their 20s, one an experimental physicist (Leonard Hofstadter) and the other a theoretical physicist (Sheldon Cooper), who live across the hall from an attractive blonde waitress with show-biz aspirations (Penny). Leonard and Sheldon’s ‘geekiness’ and sheer intellect are contrasted with Penny’s social skills and common sense for comic effect. Two equally geeky friends of theirs, Howard and Rajesh, are also main characters.

To install this fortune mod from Frugalware current:

# pacman-g2 -S fortune-mod-tbbt

Some examples:

$ fortune tbbt
Leonard: What got into him?
Penny: Oh, a couple of virgin Cuba Libres who turned out to be a little slutty.
Leonard: You didn't.
Penny: You do your little experiments, I do mine.
$ fortune tbbt
Sheldon: My new computer came with Windows 7. Windows 7 is much more user-friendly than Windows Vista......I don't like that.

So geek ;-)

chromium-logoMy non-official package of Chromium is over now, finally I succeed to make a package built from sources, actually a snaphot from the svn repo of Chromium.

It’s the version 4.0.249.78 which is packaged and now available in current repo of Frugalware. With Crazy’s help, Chromium is also available for arch x86_64.

Installation:

# pacman-g2 -S chromium

KDE4 finally on Frugalware !

By Devil505, on 28/01/2010 at 10:45.

KDE4 arrived in current repo of Frugalware few days ago with the version 4.3.4 (by the way, now updated to 4.3.5). Some users were asking for KDE4 for a while, now it’ the past. Now with Frugalware you are able to get a KDE4 desktop and some applications like Amarok 2, Choqok or Dragon Player.

My contribution was minor for KDE4 integration on Frugalware. Thanks to Dex77, Hermier, Exceed, Crazy (yes, he’s back !) and Vmiklos who have made the major part. Thanks also to the testers like Blacksad, Centuri0 or Fafab.

Android’s fonts on Frugalware

By Devil505, on 19/01/2010 at 17:09.

The android project has his own set of fonts. While I’m reading this blog entry, I’ve seen that those font were available on some linux distributions, at least the most famous ones.

I package these font for Frugalware. To install them:

pacman-g2 -Sy ttf-droid

Like explained in the blog entry, I use Droid Sans with a size of 10. Honestly I find the font very nice, I hope you’ll like it.

More Frugalware wallpapers!

By Devil505, on 16/01/2010 at 15:01.

While the new artwok is almost ready, I update the frugalware-backgrounds package. This package contain now all official wallpapers of Frugalware since 0.2. If you miss a specified wallpaper of Frugalware, you’ll able to re-use it :)

The wallpapers will be available in wallpapers selector in XFCE, KDE (even KDE4) or Gnome:

As i promised, wallpaper suggestions have been packaged in a new package named frugalware-backgrounds-extra. You’ll find many frugalware wallpapers non-officials but nice I hope.

To install them:

pacman -Sy frugalware-backgrounds frugalware-backgrounds-extra

How I met your Frugalware

Time for a little fun, with one of my last packages: fortune-mod-himym

The package fortune-mod-himym is a new set of quotes for fortune-mod. These quotes are from the TV series « How I met your mother », watch it, it’s very funny.

To install the package from frugalware-current:

# pacman-g2 -S fortune-mod-himym

And here is a test

$ fortune HIMYM
Lily: Why would Natalie hang up on you?
Ted: I don't know.
Barney: Did you sleep with her sister?
Ted: No.
Barney: Did you sleep with her mom?
Ted: No.
Barney: I'm losing interest in your story.

For your information, there is a lot of quotes for fortune-mod on Frugalware. Chuck Norris’ facts are my favorites ones. :-P

The contest for Locris wallpaper is over, the winner is:

This wall was made by WebEagle. However there is a little problem with the ratio 4/3. WebEagle will fix that as soon as possible. Once i’ve received the fixed version of his wall, the artwork integration for 1.2 will start: :-)

Gnome users, I packaged a cursor theme for you:

It’s a theme from Centuri0 available in the package named frugalware-gnome-cursor-theme (this package will be a depend of the next version of gnome-frugalware to get this cursor theme set by default).
